ASICS FrontRunner

The ASICS FrontRunner project began in 2010 and we’re happy to announce the roll out across more countries this year. The goal is to support ambitious runners all over the world, and to create an unique community where all ASICS FrontRunner can share their common passion: Running.

I’m Very Proud and Happy to announce that I have been chosen to be an ASICSFrontRunner.

Anima Sana In Corpore Sano – a sound mind in a sound body.

ASICS Ltd. began as Onitsuka Co., Ltd on September 1, 1949. Its founder, Kihachiro Onitsuka, began manufacturing basketball shoes in his home town of Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. Soon after the range of sports activities widened to a variety of Olympic styles used throughout the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s by athletes worldwide. Onitsuka became particularly renowned for the Mexico 66 design, in which the distinctive crossed stripes, now synonymous with the company brand, were featured for the first time.

In May 1990, ASICS opened the Research Institute of Sports Science in Kobe. From Here on many remarkable technological innovations in sports shoes and apparel have stemmed from this unique site where scientists, athletes and coaches work together.

Staying true to the philosophy by which it was founded, every ASICS innovation, every concept, every idea is intended to create the best product. Their mission is to become the number one brand for the sports enthusiast. To accomplish this, they pledge to continue to make the best product; striving to build upon our technological advances and pushing the limits on what they can learn from the body and its needs in athletic gear. They pledge to bring harmony to the body and soul.

The final applicants were chosen through a panel of selectors that included Runners World, ASICS FrontRunner core members and ASICS South Africa. An overwhelming 3 400 applicants nationwide were received.
